Based on the experiences shared during the 1st International Conference of the Feminist Social Science Network: “Building Feminist Academia” (2023), the second version of this conference seeks to discuss the role of feminisms in the face of the rising and increasing normalization of state violence.
What feminist knowledges and practices can contribute to resisting and cultivating hope in the face of atrocities and suffering experienced by peoples in different regions of the world? What actions of solidarity are feasible from feminisms when discourses of hate are becoming normalized? How can research and teaching practices contribute to strategies of solidarity and resistance? What knowledges and issues do these contexts mobilize for the work of social sciences, both inside and outside academia?
The 2nd International Conference held by the Feminist Social Science Network: “Solidarities for Resistance”, supported by the Mayor University’s Economy and Social Politics Center, CEAS, and by the Tarapacá University’s Social Sciences Doctorate, invites social scientists at different stages of their careers, activists, and educators to present their work, reflections, and experiences of solidarity and resistance in the face of state violence.
The main objective of this conference is to deepen the generation of an international network of research and collaboration that critically explores forms of feminist resistance and creation in the academy and beyond.
We welcome oral presentations between 15 and 20 minutes, in Spanish or English, especially along the following lines:
- Experiences and resistances in the face of state policies against the production of knowledge in conditions of equity.
- Experiences and resistance to the advance of hate speech and normalization of violence.
- Contributions of feminisms to problematize the production of knowledge in neoliberal conditions.
- Solidarities in the face of state violence: The role of international organizations and collaborative networks in the face of the genocide in Gaza.
- Contributions of feminist research: Contributions to the methodology and knowledge of research in contexts of violence.
The conference will take place on Tuesday, October 15th, and will be completely online (9:00 to 17:00 hours), Santiago de Chile).
If you are interested in participating, please submit your abstract by August 30th (500-750 words in Spanish or English) through this link.
